It would be most delightful to have a completely new set of furnishings if the existing ones are loosing their appeal and no longer complementing the space, but sometimes, this might be way-out of our budget. We do not need to retain the unappealing look of our furniture even when our budget cannot accomodate new ones. We can explore the option of having the existing furniture refurbished, and hence, restoring the new look of our furnishings and the appeal in our home.

The Matrix of Interior Design and Corporate Branding.

First company contact points for clients are;
The company's website
Company profile
Customer service contact nos.
Company representatives
Corporate office space.

Interior design revolves around and focuses on giving corporate spaces a face-lift in order to build up the company's image, brand and outlook. This enhances the perception of existing and prospective clients, business partners, investors and the public, about the company. It also boosts staff productivity, performance and creativity by improving on space planning, functionality and organization, taking into consideration the interaction of job functions, roles and departments, and expressing all these through enriched aesthetics and sophistication.

A creative and well thought out space design will improve the perception of the company in the eyes of all stake holders, inspire staff creativity and boost their energy level.

Corporate branding is so essential for a complete first impression. It is sometimes the only difference between a company and its competitors. Creating a strong corporate brand will help strengthen a company's position in the market place.

A professional space design will fit your business profile and also send a message to your target clients. Whether the company's business sense is fresh, funky and loud, or corporate, business-like and conservative, a professional, sophisticated corporate space design will help create the right impression to depict the company's business sense. A company should communicate and express its business sense by everything it does, hence, making it a 'corporate ethos'.

From the outset, the interior designer must analyse and understand the company's business, objectives, purpose and core values, its weakness and strengths, competitors, target market etc, all of which will be highlighted in the company's brief and expressed whilst the interior designer is working through the design process.

Is your company's office space sophisticated, with top-notch style interiors, and currently selling your corporate image and brand, if its not, do not waste anymore time to employ the professional services of an interior designer, to revamp your office space, boost your corporate image and re-enact your company's 'curb appeal', to attract investors, prospective clients and, improve staff work performance and energy level.

Corporate space design, staff productivity and revenue growth.

A lot of office spaces have a vast open-plan arid, monotonous pattern, where steel, wooden partitions, glass, poor lighting, dull furnishings are the ubiquitous materials defining an anonymous work environment.Scores of staff members perform their duties in identical, undifferentiated little cubicles, with rigid, non-flexible settings, where the locus is all about work and efficiency.
The contemporary office space is designed to reinforce the individuality of the employee, on the understanding that productivity, efficiency and creativity are catalysed by a working environment which drives motivation, and self-realisation. The modern office has become a vehicle of lifestyle, where the boundary between work and relaxation has become blurred and where meeting, team-building and sharing of ideas are the basis of innovation and consequently, success in a competitive world.
A corporate space interior design should mediate between the image of the company that is expected by the clients, and the users' needs and comfort. Adjoining spaces are allocated to related and interdependent functions, the interphase with the public is accomodated in areas close to the public domain, and quiet spaces created in the more secluded parts of the floor where individual work can be carried out undisturbed, integration of quiet and private spaces for meetings and collaborative work in general, and for the staff to withdraw to when working on tasks requiring focus and concentration.
Also, is the growing trend in the importance attached to the space dedicated to relaxation. These spaces of social contact encourage the staff to spend more time at work and provide an environment where pressure and leisure are balanced and conducive to a healthier and more creative lifestyle. Since employees spend long hours at their workplace, many consider the office to be their second home. Employers have come to realise that the office environment impacts employee satisfaction, creativity and productivity. Tech companies like 'Google' started a trend for building remarkable workspaces equipped with cafes, restaurants, libraries, bars, and gyms where employees can relax and brainstorm. This helps these large companies attract the brightest individuals and inspire their creativity to give the best results. Small getaway spaces like casual meeting rooms or lounging areas provide a crucial place away from the desk. They also take down communication barriers and encourage spontaneity. These communal areas can also be vital for employees to build work relations based on shared values and beliefs from which the company is sure to benefit.
The choice of materials and finishes, texture and colours is dependent on the preference and psychological requirements of the company's 8style, business sense and staff. Transparency is often the mainstay of office design, with glass as the dominant material in the contemporary office. There is no limit to how colour and texture can be manipulated to achieve the desired effect, whether to produce a sensation of calm and collection, to generate a vibrant atmosphere that stimulates creativity or to produce an impression of professionalism, prestige and pomp. Colour and texture surround us, inform our moods and determine our sensations and the impressions of the world around us, office design as well does not escape the dictates of colour and texture.
The way an office is set up has a direct impact on the business, both from the employees' and clients' view point. A pleasant, aesthetic, appealing work environment provides the best backdrop to a productive and happy office. Dingy and stuffy places drain creativity and leave a negative impression on potential clients, but a well-designed office represents a company's image and brand to potential clients. For a business to be successful, employees have to feel the need to contribute to the company. A top notch office design which is comfortable, inspiring, fun to work in and gives the employees a feeling of liberation, ascertains to individuals that their output is a major contribution towards the company's success and is valued as such.
The pertinence of a corporate office space design and its impact on staff performance, productivity and consequent result on company profitability can not be over-emphasized, and can not be stated any better by top corporate professionals and CEOs in a Harvard Business Review-(view link and take note of the position that workplace design is given in the operating strategy/service delivery system and internal service quality chain).

PAINT COLOURS.
So today, we will be looking at paint colours. A few of us are experimental with the colour of paints we use on our walls, we stick with either the traditional white, off white or cream colour in most of our homes. There is nothing wrong with these colours, but we can be more experimental with some other colours which are also subtle and serene, more interesting, and still give your home that warm, cozy ambience it requires.
Considering the predominant weather condition here in Nigeria, where the weather is hot and humid, and the sun is high a large number of times all round the year, we will focus more on a few cool colours which will give our homes a soothing yet rich effect.

 1. Parma gray: a soft, soothing blue that feels like the ocean and the sky and gives your home that cooling sea-breeze effect.

2. Citrony gray-green or olive: These colours are close to nature, but in a subtle way, hence it gives your home that 'garden' feeling.

3. Mustard yellow: Is a happy color, and has the ability to add a happy tint and warm pop of color to your space.

4. Beige: Is a colour of nature and is like the color of the desert. It is serene, calm and gives your home a cozy, warm, luxurious feel.

5. Peach: Is a hue of orange but serene, when used properly, it gives a luxurious feel to your home.

 6. Lilac and lavender: Is a soft hue of violet or purple, and connotes royalty. Lilac like light blue, can be relaxing and calming, and it can also be enchanting.
